Hotel silver is silver plate. However most of these patterns
were made especially for certain hotels. It is usually made of a nickel silver
base. Nickel silver itself contains no silver. But it was then heavily plated
with pure silver. It is usually more substantial in weight & more durable
than your everyday silver plate.
